Everything You Need to Know

Answers to common questions about Claims Doctor telehealth consultations, certificates, costs, and the claims process.

About Claims Doctor

Claims Doctor is a telehealth-first medical clinic dedicated exclusively to WorkCover and CTP patients in NSW. We provide same-day video consultations with a SIRA-experienced doctor who issues your Certificate of Capacity or Certificate of Fitness during the call. We are not a claims management service, legal firm, or insurance broker — we provide medical assessments and documentation.
Claims Doctor is led by Dr Robert Laidlaw (MBBS, James Cook University), who has experience in emergency medicine, neurosurgery, sports medicine, and clinical governance. He has served on the National Expert Reference Panel for the Australian Department of Health and as an expert advisor to the World Health Organization. View Dr Laidlaw's full profile →

Booking and Appointments

Book online at claimsdoctor.com.au/book, or contact us by phone at (02) 5503 5311, SMS at 0418 171 898, or WhatsApp. Same-day appointments are available Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Same day. Most patients are seen within hours of booking. We offer extended hours (9 AM to 9 PM weekdays) to accommodate work schedules and urgent needs.
You will need: your claim number, insurer name, employer name (WorkCover) or police event number (CTP), a description of your injury, and a device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection. If you have any existing medical records, imaging reports, or previous certificates, have them accessible.

Cost and Billing

$0 out-of-pocket with a valid WorkCover or CTP claim number. Claims Doctor bills your insurer directly at SIRA-gazetted rates (WorkCover) or AMA rates (CTP). You do not need to pay anything upfront or claim a rebate.
For WorkCover, your employer must lodge the claim first, which generates a claim number. For CTP, you need to have notified the at-fault driver's insurer. If you're unsure whether your claim has been lodged, contact us and we can guide you through the process.

Telehealth and Certificates

Yes. SIRA has formally endorsed telehealth as a valid mode of consultation delivery for both WorkCover and CTP in NSW, with video being the mandated standard. Claims Doctor conducts all consultations via secure, SIRA-compliant video call.
Your doctor conducts a clinical assessment via video — taking a history of your injury, observing your presentation, discussing your symptoms, assessing your capacity for work, and developing a return-to-work plan. Your Certificate of Capacity (WorkCover) or Certificate of Fitness (CTP) is completed during the call and sent to you digitally.
Yes. Under the NSW workers compensation system, you have the right to choose your own treating doctor. You can nominate a Claims Doctor practitioner as your Nominated Treating Doctor for ongoing certificate reviews and injury management.
For CTP claims, the Certificate of Fitness review period cannot exceed 28 days. For WorkCover, the review period is set by your doctor based on your injury and recovery trajectory — typically every 2 to 4 weeks. Your doctor will advise you on the appropriate review date and schedule your next appointment.
Your certificate is sent digitally to you (the patient). For WorkCover claims, a copy is also sent to your employer and insurer, as required under the Workers Compensation Act 1987. For CTP claims, it is provided to you and your CTP insurer.

Claims Process

Claims Doctor provides medical assessments and documentation. We do not manage claims, provide legal advice, or advocate for claim outcomes. Your doctor will provide an honest, thorough clinical assessment and issue accurate documentation. Claim decisions are made by insurers based on the medical evidence and applicable legislation.
Yes. Your Claims Doctor practitioner can arrange referrals to specialists (orthopaedic surgeons, psychiatrists, neurologists, etc.), physiotherapy, psychology, radiology, and pathology as clinically indicated. These are billed to your insurer as part of your claim.
