Allied Health and Your Claim

Recovery from a workplace injury or motor vehicle accident often requires treatment beyond what your doctor provides directly. Physiotherapy, psychology, exercise physiology, and occupational therapy are common components of injury recovery plans in WorkCover and CTP claims.

Your Claims Doctor practitioner can recommend and refer you to allied health providers as part of your treatment plan. These services are included on your Certificate of Capacity or Certificate of Fitness and billed to your insurer.

Services We Coordinate

• Physiotherapy: Musculoskeletal rehabilitation, manual therapy, exercise programs, and functional restoration for physical injuries.
• Psychology: Treatment for work-related stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and adjustment disorders. Both individual therapy and structured programs.
• Exercise Physiology: Graded exercise programs, functional capacity building, and return-to-work physical conditioning.
• Occupational Therapy: Workplace ergonomic assessments, activity modification, hand therapy, and functional capacity evaluations.
• Chiropractic: Spinal manipulation and manual therapy for back and neck injuries.
• Radiology and Pathology: X-rays, MRI, CT scans, ultrasounds, and blood tests as clinically indicated.

How It Works

During your Claims Doctor consultation, your doctor assesses what allied health treatment would benefit your recovery. The recommendation is documented on your certificate. You can then attend an allied health provider of your choice, who bills your insurer directly using the referral from your Claims Doctor practitioner.

For WorkCover claims, your insurer may need to approve allied health treatment beyond the initial sessions. Claims Doctor works with your insurer to ensure approvals are in place and treatment is not disrupted.
